MK2.1 is a reinterpretation of a classic, a tribute to a veteran, and a restyling of one of the most widely distributed and used war daggers in the Second World War: the Mark 2. Extrema Ratio undertook this ambitious project with the aim of maintaining the unique characteristics of the original while making functional modifications to enhance performance. The blade is made from cobalt stainless steel, while the other components are made of AISI 303 and AISI 304. Glass fiber-loaded nylon has replaced the leather washer in the handle. The original ergonomics have been preserved, but all structural parts have been enlarged to make it a robust and versatile multi-purpose knife.
Conceptually, the most significant changes address the "weak points" of the original model: the ability to perform field disassembly without tools, the straight modified Bowie profile tip (easier to resharpen), and grooves on the "barrel" handle, which help users perceive the direction of the blade even in the dark and geometrically increase grip during twisting movements (screwdriver effect). Other minor changes include holes for the safety leash and holes on the guard. The traditional blood drainer has been replaced with the typical Extrema Ratio "side groove" for aesthetic and weight reduction reasons.
The knife comes equipped with a standard sheath featuring automatic knife engagement, a flap, and a leg strap for hip fastening.
