This classic lure doesn't get any better than this! Every fishing enthusiast's kit contains this lure, which is considered a versatile catch. Whether you're after a salmon or a large pike, choose this lure. This is a bite of the right size for a large perch too. And for everyone's information: don't forget the Räsä when fishing in winter. This lure works for pike and roach!

The history of Räsänen dates back to the northern salmon rivers. A salmon fisherman cut a piece from the edge of a copper coffee pot, from which he forged a spoon lure for himself in the wilderness. Soon a man was on the riverbank, fishing for salmon. Salmon were caught with a seven-centimeter spoon along the northern waters of the Oulu, Kemi and Tornionjoki rivers. The story goes that at the beginning of the 20th century, Jouni F. Helander, who was from Utsjoki, would eventually bring it to Rovaniemi to be made by a watchmaker. The shape and scale pattern of the Räsänen had been created over a hundred years ago – the same shape that is found in every individual of the Räsänen today. When it was first dipped into the clear salmon water of Teno, a legend was born. It produced such a salmon catch on the very first fishing evening that other fishermen in the village began to want a similar lure for themselves. Larger and smaller models of spoons were made, which spread with fishermen all over Finland. It wasn't long before pike, perch and zander were successfully fished in Räsänen. Today, we in Kuusamo still stick to the same Räsänen shapes.
