What are Compound Bows?

Compound bows are advanced and powerful bows that use a series of cables and blocks to increase the bow's effectiveness. They differ from traditional bows by having a system of wires and wheels, which provides a mechanical advantage that reduces the physical effort required to draw the bow to full length. This design results in a higher firing rate and a longer hold time at peak pressure, making them popular with archers looking for precision and power.

Compound bows and "Let Off"

A "let-off" is a function specific to compound bows. Let-off refers to the stage of the bow's draw length where the weight of the bow is significantly reduced as the shooter reaches full draw length and holds the bow in that position.

Let-off on a compound bow refers to the percentage reduction in the draw weight of the bow when it is fully drawn. For example, if you have a compound bow with 70% let-off and a draw weight of 60 lbs (about 27 kg), the actual weight the shooter needs to hold at the end of the draw will only be 18 lbs (about 8 kg). This allows the shooter to hold the bow steady longer and focus on the accuracy of the shot without tiring as quickly. Let-off is an innovative feature that increases the comfort and performance of archers.
