Pike flies

Pike flies are larger flies built to be clearly visible and move a lot of water. The materials give the fly life even on slower retrieves, making them effective when the pike is sluggish or follows without taking a bite.

Colors and size are often adjusted to the water and light conditions. Natural colors work well in clear water, while stronger colors are better seen when visibility is poor. Many fish pike flies with intermediate or sinking lines to get the fly down to the right depth, especially during colder periods when the fish are deeper.
