The NORSE RESCUE® DECOPIN is an emergency decompression needle intended for the management of tension pneumothorax in adult patients experiencing progressive respiratory distress due to chest trauma. Designed for single use by trained medical personnel, the device features a 10-gauge, 3.75-inch (9.5 cm) cannula to ensure sufficient length for effective pleural access. It is sterilized through irradiation, supporting safe intervention under pre-hospital or emergency conditions.
This product is specifically designed for adult use and must not be used in pediatric or pregnant patients. It is contraindicated in cases of simple pneumothorax, hemothorax, barotrauma, or when pleural adhesions are present. The DECOPIN should be used only when tension pneumothorax is confirmed or strongly suspected, and it must be properly disposed of after use according to biomedical waste regulations. The shelf life of the device is five years from the date of manufacture, ensuring readiness for use in critical response settings.
