The Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) is a small and light one-handed tourniquet that can completely stop an arterial bleeding in an extremity. It is manufactured to ensure quick and effective management of a bleeding wound in an emergency. The C-A-T uses an adhesive tape and an adaptive friction buckle that allows it to fit a wide range of circumferences. This makes it useful for both small and large people.
The tension arm is easy to operate with one hand and uses a free internal band to be able to provide greater and more comprehensive pressure on the area in question. This makes C-A-T effective in stopping arterial bleeding and can save lives. The tension arm is then locked in position, still with one hand, with a built-in hook. To further secure the tensioning arm during transport, a Velcro strap is used that locks over the hooks.
The orange version of the C-A-T has the same characteristics as the black version but is specially designed for ambulance medical care and emergency services. The high-contrast orange color makes it easier to see in stressful situations and quickly lit environments, and this also increases visibility and increases safety.
The blue C-A-T version is specially designed to be used only for practice activities/training. This allows users to practice proper use and technique without risking injury to themselves or anyone else. The blue version has the same function and principle as the black and orange, but it is important to remind that it should not be used in an actual emergency.
